Our Story — The Legacy Continues

The roots of Harlem Royal Soccer Club trace back to 2005, when Adama Fofana founded Elephant Soccer Club Inc

Growing up in Côte d’Ivoire, Adama developed a deep love for soccer. Although his family encouraged him to pursue other paths, his passion for the sport never faded.

When he later moved to the United States and started a family, he wanted to share that love of soccer with his children. Unable to find a warm, community-centered soccer club in his neighborhood, he created one himself.

What began as a small gathering of local children playing together gradually grew into a structured youth club serving the community.

Years later, when Adama relocated back to Côte d’Ivoire, he invited the dedicated coaches to continue the program. Inspired by the impact the club had made in young lives, they agreed—and Harlem Royal Soccer Club Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was born in Harlem, New York.

Today, the club continues that legacy by providing opportunity, mentorship, and community through soccer.
